We tossed up some microphones and some cameras to give you guys a peek at what we're working on. The song is still in the early stages so it's a little too long and a little repetitious, but we hope you enjoy getting a look at our process.
I'm very excited to announce that tracking has began on our next release. We tracked drums and a couple rhythm guitar parts. We're recording two new songs on a 90's Tascam 4-Track tape recorder. Coming from the world of digital multi-track recording, and having unlimited tracks/edits, this is a whole new world for me. Once something is committed to tape, it's pretty final. We're really excited to hear how everything comes out. It's going to be a fun learning experience for all of us. Can't wait to see how this project turns out. Josh has been vigilant with multiple cameras to capture this whole experience. Keep an eye out for future updates and videos!
We thought we'd give vlogging a shot. Seemed like the thing to do. If anyone watches this we'll keep making them.
It's been a while since our last news update, which is lame... Our bad!
We said goodbye to our drummer and good friend DanBibb. The ManBibb accepted a new job, and has moved on to bigger and better things in North Carolina. His Taun Taun will continue live on in the heart of Fallen Among Thieves. We miss you BibbyPants.
Oh... and we got some new members. Ian Anderson has taken Dan's place on drums, Sean Hillard will be laying down the low end on bass, and Carolyn Leber-Eyrich is adding her kitty loving sparkle on additional vocals. It's kind of nice practicing and writing with a full band. For Josh and I, it's been quite a bit. Up to this point the two of us had been writing the songs, and adopting them to a full band format, mostly after the recording of Honey Mouth.
Which brings us to the last bit of catching up. We're writing new material for our second release, which will come in the form of a cassette tape! Don't worry, it will be available for download as well. We plan to record two brand new songs, and two cover songs from a band I bet you've never heard of.
Keep an eye out for more frequent updates, videos, etc.
We sat down with Matt Kelly of Chords for Cures to do a session for the St. Mort Podcast. We mixed things up by whiping out the old Casiotone Keyboard and doing a quasi acoustic performance of Memory and Mateo.
Feeling particularly jolly we spent the better half of an evening throwing together this cover of The Beach Boys Jolly Saint Nick. We had a ton of fun making it. Hope you enjoy.
